Abigail’s Personal Journal

July 16th, 1956

The first week is always the worst, that’s got to be it. After the first week in hell I’m ready to leave and go home. My parents are probably worried anyways; I really didn’t say anything except “I’m done, I’m leaving”.

Sometimes I question if this is really worth it all. I mean, home isn’t much better. So I guess I’m just going to have to deal with it and deal with the choices I have made. All I know is that I’m starving, and I want pancakes. Even though it is 10:30 at night. Well, it looks like I’m going down to The Black Spider.

As I make my way down the stairs, somehow I manage to fall. At that point I was beyond done with the day. Right as I was ready to climb up the stairs and go back to bed, the most amazing man I have ever seen walked up to me. All I could do was sit there with my mouth open like an idiot, staring at his beauty; I was stuck in a dream. He tried to speak to me but right now I’m not quite sure what he said.

When my brain finally decided to stop making me look like a total moron, I figured out what he had said. “Oh my god, are you okay!?” said the stranger.

Somehow I managed to get out, “Yeah, I’m fine, just really dizzy.”

“Where were you going in such a hurry?” asked the man.

“Just to the Black Spider. I’m Abigail, by the way,” I spoke in an ever so soft voice.

“Trevin. Why are you going to the Black Spider at 10:30?” asked Trevin.

“Would you like to tag along?” I asked. He looked at me very puzzled. From there is where my day got weird, weirder than normal. He didn’t say anything, just grabbed my hand and we walked to the tavern.

Once we got there we ran into, of all people, his ex-girlfriend. So yeah, that was super awkward. She started yelling at him about how dare he bring another girl into her place of work.

At first I was very confused because I have been in here every day this week and I’ve never seen her. After the fight between those two, Trevin and I sat down at the bar. Well, this is where Molly (his crazy ex) comes back into the picture again: she is the barkeep.

Trying to make life a little less awkward, I asked him about the interesting things that have happened here, I mean besides the fights with his ex.

He began to tell me about the local gang of orcs around here. Of course they walked into the tavern right as he was telling me about them. They are very large and a grey-yellow color. They look like they could eat a small child.

They walked in with what I thought was a child. Now I know it was just a very drunk dwarf. This poor dwarf was so drunk he started talking about the lost mine of Phandelver, and how we have to find it.

We all gathered around the drunken dwarf as he began to tell an amazing story about this lost mine. We sat there like we were small children hearing about Santa Claus. We decided that we would go in search of this lost mine.

We will leave tomorrow morning.

That’s all for today, more to come tomorrow.
