Mrs. McLaughlin – One of DaVinci’s Newest and Brightest

Some may know that there are magnificent teachers teaching at DaVinci Academy who care very deeply about all students and make an effort to get to know everyone. Unfortunately, not all of the teachers get the recognition they deserve. Mrs. Heather McLaughlin is a very extraordinary teacher who may not be recognized as much as she could be. Coming to DaVinci Academy this year, she teaches anatomy, science, and chemistry. She has also been opening the doors to many students’ futures by showing them careers that they never would have dreamed of. She noted, “I became a teacher so I could feel like I was making a difference, and so I could teach chemistry.”

She explained that while “My ideal job had been to teach college not high school” she “really likes it here” and I’m glad she came. She may not have come to DaVinci Academy and realized that this is her true home, yet her not teaching a college class is one of the best things that has happened to the school.

Mrs. Heather McLaughlin cares for her students and has never failed to amaze us. She cares about everyone, including the “trouble makers”. People can count on her to stay after school and help them with homework and know that she’ll be there as long as they need. Being the new teacher can be just as hard as being a new kid, sometimes having to prove that you’re good enough and worth it. We are lucky that she changed her path and directed herself to DaVinci Academy.
