Pioneer Theater, What Do Students Think?
DaVinci students saw Fiddler on the Roof at Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City and came back impressed by the vocals and acting.

At DaVinci Academy, high school and middle school students are allowed to go to musical theater productions at the Pioneer Theater, which is located at the University of Utah. They put on a performance every month for students throughout Utah to enjoy. This year many people from DaVinci were allowed to go. The Pioneer Theater company discounts the price of the plays for students to $93.00 for the season instead of the $300.00 which is full price for one show.
The production that students watched was “Fiddler on the Roof”. Many students were excited to see the show. A few students had never seen “Fiddler on the Roof” before so they were curious about the play. Other students had seen the play before and were also interested in how they would perform the play and what kind of angle they would take. Jacob Robinson said, “I love ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and I would like to be Tevye one day.” Jessica Lewis also said, “I was in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and I am excited to see their version.”
Once the play started the audience was immediately engaged. Many students laughed at the humorous puns and jokes in the script. The actors did a fantastic job staying in character and singing while dancing. The audience often booed at the bad characters or cheered for the heroic characters, which made the play more fun for others as students and teachers watched.
“The vocals were very strong; the actors killed the stage,” said Aunika Woodberry. After the performance multiple students were very impressed with the overall show. What caught some students’ eye was how the characters were portrayed. Students fell in love with the play and the performance and are very excited for the next one. Sophie Norvell stated, “I was impressed and enjoyed learning more about culture.” Students are definitely excited and looking forward to the next play. Many students were blown away with the whole show and hope the next one is just as good.
