Mr. Medellin
DaVinci Academy counselor Rey Medellin on the Army, Texas, and why helping kids succeed is the best part of his job.
Rey Medellin is a 34-year-old counselor here at DaVinci Academy. He was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. He later joined the Army reserve and went to Iraq twice for combat. Later on, he moved to Utah because he came for a visit and realized it was a safe environment, and he decided to stay.
Before coming to DaVinci, Mr. Medellin worked with kids who had gang-related problems, and that’s when he found his love for helping kids.
“It makes me happy to see kids succeed. Helping kids is the best part of my job; I check with them every day to see if they are okay.” He chose DaVinci because it was a one school district.
Fun Fact: Mr. Medellin has eaten McDonald’s in 11 different countries.
